Hrochův Týnec Chateau

Hrochův Týnec Chateau is located in the town of Hrochův Týnec - in the Chrudim district in the Pardubice Region, which is about 125 km from Prague.

The chateau grounds date back to the end of the 17th century and consist of a Baroque building with two preserved representative gates and a large chateau park. The current appearance of the complex dates from the second half of the 19th century, when the castle was enlarged and especially its interior was modified.

The present building of the chateau was built after 1705 in Baroque style as a summer palace of the Premonstratensians. The corridor and the representative rooms at the eastern facade were historicized around 1850. Further alterations took place between 1878 and 1879. The current shape of the mansard roof with a quadrilateral tower, numerous dormers and tower-like buttresses was only created during the rebuilding in the spirit of historicist modernism in 1924-1925. The building was raised by a second floor, the facades were richly decorated and the interior, especially on the first floor, was significantly modernised with a rich use of wood. After 1945, the castle housed a children's home with a school and an educational care centre. In 1996, the interior of the second floor was rebuilt and the large rooms were redecorated. The ground floor and the first floor remained unchanged. In 2010, the Hrochův Týnec municipality acquired the castle.
